ICT Infrastructure and Security Team is responsible for the designing, testing and implementation of routine installations of ICT hardware, including computers, network components, data storage and multi-functional devices in virtualized and cloud computing environments in accordance with industry standards including compatibility, security, and sustainability.

Roles and Responsibilities for Infrastructure Services Functional Lead

1. Network Administrator

In our university Network Administrators are responsible for various network operations, including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, optimizing, and supporting the network communication links in woldia university ICT.

  • Oversee the coordination with ICT regarding installations and configurations of Local Area Networks (LANs) and related devices.
  • Install and maintain network servers and operating systems to ensure backup copies of all files are securely stored at a specific location
  • Troubleshoot problems with network devices and perform updates when required
  • Install, configure, and maintain multi-user software on the servers
  • Administer and maintain end-user accounts, authentication, and permission rights
  • Install, configure, and maintain network communications and other networking devices such as hubs, switches, and UPS
  • Maintain and perform the necessary needs of all network-connected devices
  • Manage security solutions, such as anti-virus, firewall, and intrusion detection systems
  • Install the software, hardware, and other devices to meet the organization’s network requirements
  • Guide the System Administrator in the maintenance of the VOIP system

2. System Administrator

In our university System Administrators organize, install and support an organization’s computer systems. These include local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and other data communication systems.

  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Ensuring security and efficiency of IT infrastructure

  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policy.

3. Cyber Security

Cybersecurity teams protect systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks in woldia university. These cyberattacks are usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information; extorting money from users through ransomware; or interrupting normal business processes.

  • Develop and publish information security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines based on best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with IT staff to develop business impact analysis, business continuity, and disaster recovery procedures and documentation.
  • Review control compliance on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop strategy for ongoing controls and risk programs
  • Understand IT change processes.
  • Deliver risk management, metrics, and reporting
  • Assist in review of security controls.
